love among the birch trees

I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with a beech-tree, or a yellow birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines. Henry David Thoreau

My first official session in Alaska was with these two and their pup; we met on the ferry of all places! Thankfully they are just as excited to be in Alaska as we are, so we had a lot of fun playing in the birch forests of the Chena Lakes Recreation Area. We may not have the glaciers and mountains of the coastline, but we have amazing birch forests here in the heart of Alaska! The summer light is amazing too; these were taken late in the evening but we didn’t need to rush before the sun set. Photographing couples is one of my favorite things to do, seeing the love they share and how their personalities compliment each other makes my job easy. And while I’m not minding the winter, seeing these photos again has me looking forward to summer.
