the northern lights

When I look at the northern lights … I see our ancestors dancing around a sacred fire, lighting the way for us when it’s time for us to cross over from this physical world and join them.  Molly Larkin

I am not an aurora photographer, by any means, but seeing the northern lights is a magical, indescribable experience. Seeing them was probably my number one hope for coming to Alaska and I was fortunate enough to see them within days of arriving. (and were captured sans tripod, hence the very burry photos above) So far I’ve missed all the really good shows (which is due to me not being awake all night, not looking outside the window while I am awake, and not feeling like going out in the frigid temperatures), but I am determined to get an amazing shot while I’m up here! (even if I freeze…)
