frolicking in the (cold) park

I come from pioneer stock, developers of the West, people who went out into the wilderness and set up home with nothing but a pair of oxen. Joni Mitchell

Pioneer Park is pretty much Alaska in a nutshell; providing history, culture, food, and lots of play. It is open year round and while the summertime is when it is most alive, come winter the snow turns it into a winter wonderland. We were lucky and got a twenty degree day for our shoot (that’s warm for Fairbanks), but even that gets to be a bit cold after awhile. I’m glad they were up for tromping around in the snow and freezing for their session, I love winter shoots! These kids were such a blast and the range of facial expressions they used made capturing them so fun. Everyone has amazing personalities (mom and dad included) and their positivity through not-quite-ideal conditions made all the difference.
